What this sheet is for
Most cleaning backlogs happen not from laziness but from having no system. This sheet solves that by giving each day its own room or zone, a column for listing the specific tasks involved, and a column for noting who did them or what was skipped. Fill it in on Sunday evening and the week's cleaning runs on a clear schedule rather than accumulated guilt.
How to use it
At the start of the week, write a room or area in the Room / Zone column for each day — for example, kitchen on Monday, bathrooms on Tuesday, living areas on Wednesday. In Tasks to Do, list the specific jobs for that zone, such as descaling the tap, scrubbing grout, or vacuuming under furniture. Use Done by / Notes to tick off tasks, record who completed them, or flag anything left for the following week. At the end of the week, work through the three prompts in the Weekly Cleaning Review box to adjust your rotation and check supplies.
What is printed on the page
“Weekly Room-by-Room Clean” is laid out as seven-row week: one tall row per day (Monday–Sunday) split into three labelled columns, with a three-prompt box across the foot of the page. Under the title it reads “Assign daily cleaning zones and tasks so no room is missed.”, and the line at the foot of the page says “Rinse mop heads and microfibre cloths immediately after use — dried residue reduces their effectiveness next time.”.
The column headings slot holds three entries — “Room / Zone”, “Tasks to Do” and “Done by / Notes” — so the sheet is already filled in for cleaning rather than left as blank rows to label yourself.
The footer prompts slot holds three entries — “Room that needs extra attention next week:”, “Supply running low — restock before:” and “One task to move to monthly rotation:” — so the sheet is already filled in for cleaning rather than left as blank rows to label yourself.
The remaining labels on the page are “Week of” for the week label and “Weekly Cleaning Review” for the footer heading.
Two things about this particular seven-row week are settings rather than text, and “Weekly Room-by-Room Clean” has them set like this. Start sunday is off: start the week on Sunday instead of Monday. Foot box is on: include the three-prompt box at the foot.
Tips
Assign heavier zones like bathrooms and kitchen to days when you have more time, not just the earliest days.
Write tasks in Tasks to Do the night before so you are not deciding in the moment what the zone actually needs.
Use the restock prompt every week without fail — running out of bleach or cloths mid-clean wastes more time than the task itself.
The other layouts in this set
“Weekly Room-by-Room Clean” is one of three sheets in this set, each a different fixed layout filled for the same topic. “Deep-Clean Rotation Planner” uses the day boxes with goals layout and “Daily Cleaning Habits Tracker” uses the weekly tracker table layout. Pick by how you work: the layout decides how much you write and where, not what the sheet is about.
