Monthly Subject Focus Log
A day-by-day study session log for students tracking which subjects and topics they cover each day across a full month.
The PDF is built on your device from the layout and the text above; nothing is uploaded. If the preview does not display, the download buttons still work.
What this sheet is for
This sheet is for anyone who suspects their study time is quietly skewed — hours going to a favourite subject while others are neglected. Instead of planning what you intend to do, you record what you actually did: the subject, the specific topic, and roughly how long you studied. Over a month, the pattern of gaps becomes visible at a glance.
How to use it
At the top, fill in the month and list the subjects competing for your attention in the 'Subjects to cover this month' box — this keeps your commitments visible every time you open the sheet. Each day has one writing line: note the subject, the exact topic (not just 'maths' but 'quadratic equations'), and the time spent in minutes. The heavier rules every seven days let you scan weekly balance quickly. At the end of the month, answer both prompts under 'End-of-Month Review' to turn raw logs into a decision for next month.
What is printed on the page
“Monthly Subject Focus Log” is laid out as day list: days 1–31 as two columns of numbered writing lines, a 'focus this month' box at the top and a two-prompt review at the bottom. Under the title it reads “Track daily study sessions by subject, topic covered, and time spent.”, and the line at the foot of the page says “A session as short as 25 minutes counts — log it. Consistent small entries reveal patterns over the month.”.
The review prompts slot holds two entries — “Which subject got the least time, and why?” and “What study habit worked best this month?” — so the sheet is already filled in for study rather than left as blank rows to label yourself.
The remaining labels on the page are “Month / Year” for the month label, “Subjects to cover this month” for the focus prompt, “Subject · topic · duration (mins)” for the column hint and “End-of-Month Review” for the review heading.
Two things about this particular day list are settings rather than text, and “Monthly Subject Focus Log” has them set like this. Review box is on: include the review box at the bottom. Weekly dividers is on (the opposite of the layout's default): draw a heavier rule every seven days.
Tips
Use a consistent short code for each subject — e.g. 'Bio', 'Hist' — to keep entries readable in the narrow line space.
If you study two subjects in one day, stack both on the same line separated by a slash rather than leaving one unrecorded.
After completing the end-of-month review, transfer neglected subjects straight into next month's focus box before filing this sheet.
The other layouts in this set
“Monthly Subject Focus Log” is one of three sheets in this set, each a different fixed layout filled for the same topic. “Exam Revision Monthly Planner” uses the classic month grid layout and “Assignment Deadline Tracker” uses the grid with sidebar layout. Pick by how you work: the layout decides how much you write and where, not what the sheet is about.
