What this sheet is for

This sheet is for anyone who batch-cooks on weekends, buys proteins in bulk, or regularly finds forgotten food at the back of the freezer. Rather than planning what to buy, it tracks what you already have and pushes you to use it systematically across the month, meal by meal, before anything expires or loses quality.

How to use it

Write the month in the Month / Year field. In each day's grid cell, note the frozen or batch-cooked item you plan to use — one line for each meal slot if space allows, or just the main item. Use Freezer Goals This Month to record specific targets, such as clearing a particular shelf or using up soup portions. Tick off the Monthly Freezer Tasks as you complete them across the month. Jot items that are nearly empty or needed for next batch in the Low Stock to Restock box so you have a ready shopping note.

What is printed on the page

“Cook From the Freezer Month” is laid out as grid with sidebar: a 7 × 6 month grid taking two-thirds of the width, with a sidebar of four goal lines, a six-item checklist and a reminder box. Under the title it reads “Track which frozen meals, proteins and batch-cooked portions you use each day.”, and the line at the foot of the page says “Before shopping, cross off any freezer item on this grid — if it appears three or more times this month, you have a surplus.”.

The checklist items slot holds six entries — “Audit freezer — list contents”, “Label all unlabelled bags”, “Use oldest item first”, “Defrost one shelf or drawer”, “Batch-cook one new item” and “Note what ran out or was wasted” — so the sheet is already filled in for meal planning rather than left as blank rows to label yourself.

The remaining labels on the page are “Month / Year” for the month label, “Freezer Goals This Month” for the goals heading, “Monthly Freezer Tasks” for the checklist heading and “Low Stock to Restock” for the reminder heading.

Two things about this particular grid with sidebar are settings rather than text, and “Cook From the Freezer Month” has them set like this. Start sunday is off: start the week on Sunday instead of Monday. Reminder box is on: include the reminder box at the foot of the sidebar.

Tips

Write the freeze date next to each item in the cell so you can see at a glance which portions are oldest and need using soonest.

If a day's cell stays blank, circle it at month end — repeated blanks show which days you default to takeaway instead of using your freezer stock.

Use the Low Stock to Restock box only for items you cook in bulk; do not list everyday groceries there or the box loses its purpose.

The other layouts in this set

“Cook From the Freezer Month” is one of three sheets in this set, each a different fixed layout filled for the same topic. “Monthly Meal Planner” uses the classic month grid layout and “Eat Down the Pantry Month” uses the day list layout. Pick by how you work: the layout decides how much you write and where, not what the sheet is about.
